Good bye Betty M (and $2 billion in taxpayer money)
One more reason why its looking more and more like a sweep in November.
Barbara E. Riley, director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, said in a press conference this afternoon that undetermined county officials engaged in a financial shell game that allowed them to obtain state and federal funds they were not entitled to get.
“This is a huge finding and … more than a mistake,” Riley said.
Riley deflected blame for allowing the misspending to go undetected, pointing fingers at the county and state Auditor Betty D. Montgomery's office.
“We are very dependent on the auditor of state,” who conducts annual audits of the county, she said.
